WXOU: If you’re not paying attention, you’ll walk right past this inconspicuous little dive bar on Hudson Street. Unpretentious and straightforward, everyone needs to tune to WXOU. Beers and mixed drinks cost around five dollars, the jukebox pleases more often than not, and the generally laidback vibe gives this little space a lot of character. The bartenders are friendly and the mix of locals and students make for good company. WXOU is a great place to start off your night in the West Village. But watch out—the cheap prices and good tunes might ensure that you stay here ’til the wee hours; then you’ll wonder how WXOU “Shook [You] All Night Long” (and you’d better have a good excuse to give your boss as to why you’re still wearing yesterday’s clothes). |
