Wined-Up: For a while this lofty space above the always popular Punch restaurant was the popular club Eau. Then, after becoming the unpopular club Eau, the proprietors decided it was time for a change, thus Wined-Up. And Wined-Up they are at this light and airy wine bar where there are more than 150 vinos by the bottle (30 by the glass) from which to choose. Tables in the back of the room are a bit clustered, but tables by the floor-to-ceiling window in the front are ideal for happy hour, and the Mediterranean-influenced meats and cheeses do the trick no matter where you decide to sit. Being on Park Avenue South comes with given certainties: nouveau riche crowd, stemless wine glasses, and a vibe that aspires to be more after work than cutting-edge. |
