Winebar: On this strange little strip of Second Avenue, not far from where Mars Bar’s customers regard methadone as a fancy cocktail, wine is most often sipped from a paper bag. However, in this teeny oenophile’s dream room, vino bottles literally line the dimly lit walls. Exposed brick abounds in Winebar’s minimalist space where there are a dozen tables inside and a few more on the sidewalk. There’s a lot to pick from—40 wines by the glass. Where they hide the kitchen in this tiny spot is a mystery, but light dishes with a Mediterranean influence are certainly coming from somewhere. This is a big-time date spot. |
