Whistlin' Dixie's Texas Tavern
Everyone takes meds these days, and while the kiddies have Adderall for their ADD, adults have theme bars. Whistlin’ Dixie’s Texas Tavern may claim to be a southern-style bar, but in reality, it’s got something for everyone. Mexicano Mondays deliver $3 Coronas and a Latina DJ, TGI EF’N Fridays will get pennypinchers unlimited margaritas for $10, Summer School Saturdays will draw in the hippies with beer pong and live jam bands, and on SIN Sundays, exotic dancers drink for free. With 20 signature drinks and 22 kinds of tequila, it’s Disneyland for alcoholics. Be sure to wander in during a Mets game because every home run gets you a free tequila shot. And, if you need any other reason to get completely obliterated every night of the week, the waitresses wear wife beaters and daisy dukes. So much for your concentration.

Great Experience

Not your typical "themed" bar (a good thing)... a Whistlin Dixies night is a truly enjoyable one ... the crowd is mixed ... as is the music ... The Margaritas and Tequilla's as well as the cool memorabilia give it a nice Texas feel, but not over the top ... you won't get kicked out for playing a Pop song if your party chooses ... but from what I can tell .... a couple of Johnny Cash songs get the crowd going ... Thank Goodness

The Standard

I'm on this site all time and met some people at this bar the other night, I got home and felt inspired to let others know. It's what a bar should be. It's not over the top and in your face all the time with shot girls and shitty promos and it's not over saturated with Corporate dorks who I get enough of in my day today. It's just a nice place to have a cold beer or a strong shot, and listen to great American music from a Juke box!
It has an inviting Texas theme but doesn't push it down your throught like some meat packing amusement park...
It's more than likely the bar people will consider the standard in years to come as the upper West side has it's expected boom.
I recommend you check it out when you get the chance. Perhaps for a game...
