Webster Hall: This multilevel venue can seem a lot like a teenager who is going through a metal, indie rock, pop, and rebellious phase—all at the same time. Webster Hall searches for its true identity every night by offering live music (polar opposites like the Bravery, Avril Lavigne, Tegan & Sara), an amateur strip contest, Playgirl’s Night Out, and Saturday night’s Sexy Singles Auction. This mish-mash of events can be downright disturbing; inside, the marble stairs, intricate carvings, and low lighting are reminiscent of a haunted mansion. Lines form around the block for the all-ages punk shows, making the plastic wristband a coveted accessory. All of this dichotomy might make you dizzy; so down their Apprentice “You’re Hired” Ice Shot, kiss your 19-year-old date goodnight, and call it a night. |
