Weather Up: This bar is so cool that it doesn’t even need a sign, apparently—you'll know it by the white tiles that cover the façade. The ceiling of this narrow speakeasy is lined with yet more white tiles, giving it the appearance of a relocated subway station, minus the smell of urine and vagrants (damn). Jazz plays on the stereo, and dim light picks up a crowd of chill locals who come in for one thing—cocktails! Weather Up bartenders apprenticed under Jedi mixologist Sasha Petraske of Milk & Honey (who also doesn't believe in signs), and it shows. Drinks are meticulously made from scratch using only fresh ingredients. Perfection does come at a slightly higher price (about $11 per drink), but don’t let that scare you from asking the tattoo-sleeved bartender to suggest something new. After all, she doesn’t bite; fortunately her cocktails do. |
