Water Taxi Beach (aka Harry's): A beach with a view of Manhattan? It exists although there’s no swimming, but why do you need to do the backstroke when you can lounge on a towel in the sand in hardly any clothes and have all you need in the perfect day (or night) at the beach within feet? Sounds like paradise and it’s in Long Island City. The folks at Harry’s Water Taxi Beach imported 400 tons of New Jersey beach sand and set up camp to serve burgers, hot dogs, sangria, cocktails, and lots of beer. There’s volleyball, DJs at night, and not much beats the view of the skyline at sunset. Plus the Water Taxi from Manhattan docks steps away, so it’s easy to get to if you don’t want to take the 7 train in. Open May 25th through October 8th. |
