Virage Bar & Grill
Somewhere between a bistro and a late-night diner, you’ll find Virage. This cute corner spot is a perfect first date for the unadventurous. The room is inoffensive, if uninteresting, and Virage’s able kitchen does as well with burgers and fries as it does with steaks and haricots vert. The drink list is pretty standard, with beer and wine being the most fitting libations. Not as loud as many places on this bustling strip of the Second Avenue corridor, Virage is a dependable standby, but not a destination. One thing’s for sure—shrimp and crab burgers with shoestring potatoes are a great alternative to the usual 2AM slice of pizza.

Horrible

Went there 07/18/2008, found the menu to be very pricey for the East Village. But hey it's a night out. I ordered a Bombay Sapphire an tonic, little ice. What I got was a rock glass that the bartender obviously used to scoop the melted ice up with along with the melted ice water. Hence there was little to no taste at all. Asked for another and got the same thing.
we ordered the Lemon Chicken, a burger med-rare, and the veggie burger. The lemon chicken came lathered in some kind of sauce that I assume was supposed to taste "lemony", the yukon gold potatoes included was in fact 5 pieces of quartered potatoes, and a mass of soggy over cooked vegetable's. The burger was acceptable though over cooked. The cheddar cheese that was to be on the burger was in fact a tin cup of what looked like cheez-whiz. The veggie burger was left half eaten because it had no taste.
Not sure what they expect from the wait staff or servers but I'm pretty sure that it is common knowledge that you do not serve by reaching across the table or through someone's arms.
It would also be nice if the manager in his orange shirt and the wait staff was not seen wiping there face or brows on the floor. Maybe they could step to the rest room and refresh themselves there.
Why people toterate such sub-par experiance is beyond me.
This place should close soon.
Never again!!!
