Vino di Vino: This large banquet hall of a wine bar right off the end-of-the-line Ditmars stop in Astoria tries hard to please, offering 60 “divine wines” by the glass and 300 different bottles, but it makes absolutely no effort to be cool. Instead, this recent addition to the Italian restaurant Trattoria L'incontro next door attempts fancy—in the most unfortunate Queens way. Look for classy touches like fake plants, cheesy murals of the Italian countryside, white tablecloths, and waiters dressed in black vests and red ties. Sure, this would be an okay place to take your wannabe-oenophile (but in reality just old soak) aunt from the Midwest to sample some wines and pig out on prosciutto—after all, she's paying—but given how fun Astoria has become in recent years, surely you can find somewhere that feels less like an Olive Garden to show off your neighborhood? Open Tue.-Thu. 4pm-midnight, Fri.-Sat. 4pm-1am.
