Village Pourhouse Upper West Side: With pub food, 25-cent wings, and an event called “Beertopia,” Village Pourhouse knows what college kids want. The blueprint works so well at the East Village outpost, Michael Sinensky and Sean McGarr opened a second location uptown, again with more than 100 beers and 20 HDTVs. Divided into several themed rooms—the front room features stained glass and a solid oak bar, the "Dugout" is a 20-person private room with three self-service draughts, the solarium-style "Vegas Room" holds 50 and has a private garden and a fireplace, and the "Red Light" also holds 50 and has a 30-foot bar. If this place doesn’t inspire Columbia students to try Animal House-worthy antics, we don’t know what will.
