Vesta Trattoria & Wine Bar: The super thin-crust pizza at Astoria’s newest Italian wine bar already has a solid neighborhood following. Toppings rotate depending on what’s fresh, but pies start at only $6.95 at lunchtime. You can swap in whole-wheat dough for an extra $2. Inspired by Vesta, the Roman goddess of the home, this place delivers a warm atmosphere while still feeling hip. Astorians of all ages wander in to use the free WiFi, sip espresso, pick up pizza, or, later, get romantic over a bottle of Chianti – but the vibe is set by the young owner, who rocks a soundtrack of Vampire Weekend and The Shins from his iPod. For dessert, do try the “Baby Jesus,” a spiced date cake with caramel sauce. Open Mon.-Thu. noon-3pm, 5-11pm; Fri. noon-3pm, 5pm-midnight; Sat. 11am-4pm, 5pm-midnight; Sun. 11am-4pm, 5-11pm.
