Veloce Pizzeria: The menu has been carefully curated; Veloce offers five pizzas – Sfincione, Mignotta, Margherita, Salsiccia and Funghi, done Sicilian style. They’re paired with a Southern Italian wine list. Yes, this is not your typical pizza place. For example, you won’t find this combination at your corner joint- The Funghi is loaded with fresh mushrooms, oysters, mozzarella, and thyme. Veloce’s owners, Frederick Twomey and Porchetta’s Sara Jenkins have turned Solex into 50-seater, lounge-yish pizza joint, complete with checkered tablecloths. Wines start at $8 a glass, $32 a bottle, and the pies, well the prices for these 12-inchers start at $15. If you don’t get easily distracted by staring at one of the three TV’s in the place, this might be a decent date spot. |
