Uncle Ming's: Something about the lack of a sign and having to climb up a flight of stairs to get to this clubby bar makes it feel like you’re in on a secret that no one knows about. But once you’re inside, it’s pretty clear someone’s been blabbing about it all over town—it’s usually packed. The smallish loft space was once an after-hours hang, which is clear from its speakeasy vibe. The décor, which we’ll call gothy-chic, consists of velvet walls, chandeliers, plush pillows, and dark lighting. Combine that with the strong drinks and it’s a great place to make out, but that’s about all you’ll be able to do with your mouth—the music is generally so loud, talking is practically impossible. Still, it’s a good place to dance when you’ve had too many mojitos, and it’s the perfect place for a private party. |
