Txikito: Pronouncing Txikito is dicey, even if you are hooked on phonics. But give it a go, because Alex Raij's new venture (say: "chee-KEE-toe") is more tongue pleaser than twister. This tiny, 34-seat gem, aptly named for the Basque word meaning "little one" serves tapas from the same underrepresented Spanish region. And Raij, formerly of Tia Pol and El Quinto Pino, brings along her chef hubby, Eder Montero (also of Tia Pol), to help craft a tempting yet ingeniously simple menu. Maria Berman and Brad Horne's interior feels rustic thanks to reclaimed wood walls, but industrial lighting adds a modern flair. Try the Txiki Txanpi (a tiny grilled cheese with shrimp and mushroom for $8) or the sure-to-please Chuletillas (grilled lamb chops) for $20. There's a 10-seat bar, perfect for samplilng Spanish reds wtih your tapas. Txikito gets packed easily, but it'll be worth the wait to impress your date with your vast Basque vocab. Say that three times fast! Open Tues.-Thurs. 5pm-11pm, Fri.-Sat. 5pm-12am.
