Tuts
What the hell is this place? Short answer: a Lower East Side hookah bar. Long answer: an odd smoking lounge that seems as though it should be inside a casino. Faux-gold statues surround the entrance to this Orchard Street oddity where a shimmering gold, black, and red interior is sprinkled with ottomans, tables, and hookah pipes. Behind stage curtains in back, there’s even a huge Tutankhamen bust. If it all sounds kind of tacky, that means we described it well. That said, there’s also a bit of other-worldly charm to the whole thing. If Tuts’ owners are aware of the kitsch, kudos to them. If not, well that’s too bad. Sugary specialty cocktails fuel weekend parties that can be a bit sexy in a very unimaginative but accessible way. Hot and cold mezze and Middle Eastern desserts are also available.

Beware of Tuts - Unauthorized Charges

I went to a birthday party here this past Saturday night. My friends reserved a table and they charged them $150-200 for drinks they never ordered and added on a $90 service/convenience charge. They also ran my credit card twice (i.e., charged me twice for the same drinks) and claim they do not want to deal with the error. Be very careful when you give them your credit card and if you're with a group at a table.

This place sucks

Honestly, I went here for New Year's Eve and I have never witnessed a more blatant and unethical SCAM in my entire life. We paid 100 dollars for a VIP ticket, entitling us to a open premium bar, food, seating, no lines, etc. Once we arrived, it became clear that none of what was promised was going to be delivered. I found it to be extremely unethical and in poor taste and I can say that I will absolutely never be going there ever again. BTW the bouncer was also the manager and the DJ - need i say more? AND, the big screen TV was playing the Weather channel at 11:47PM on New Year's Eve - um hello, the weather channel. Overall, a complete disappointment and certainly not a place you should go for a sure thing good time.

Spacious and Sexy

I went to Tuts a while back for the first time with some friends who were visiting from out of town. A major suggestion for those with big parties of 10 or more, call ahead! We did and were able to get in with ease! This place is spacious and has a sexy feel to it. When you approach Tuts, you might just get thrown off and have to do a double take of the Egyptian statues u see greeting you at the door...however don't get thrown off because a giant Tutankamun will surprise you even more when you walk in. The abiance is sensual and sexy of Tuts. Let DJ Amir embrace you with his mix of ecclectic music from around the world! Let the world of Bellydancers, henna artists and psycic palm readers embrace you in their world! If that doesn't do it the hookah most definitly will! Bring your friends and have a ball! Before entering Tuts, watch what u wear!!! Dress Code is STRICTLY ENFORCED!!!!!!! They have been known to not let someone in if they don't like what you wear. But hey! This place is a MUST CHECK OUT! SO GO! SMOKE HOOKAH! HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!
