Time Out New York Lounge: Time Out New York picked a surprising locale for the lounge that bears its name: a basement. But the reality is better than that sounds. The TONY Lounge is downstairs at the edgy New World Stages, a few blessed blocks from the Broadway bus tours. It lurks in the corner like an out-of-work actor, eager to welcome theatergoers arriving early or needing fortification at intermission. The space is modern and sleek but neither fancy nor pretentious. The good-looking staff happily explains the themed cocktails developed in conjunction with what’s happening on the theater’s five stages (including the Evil Dead cocktail with cranberry and black vodka). A funky after-work crowd takes in happy hour (5pm-7pm), but the space clears out at showtime – which just means more Evil Dead for you. |
