Tillman's Bar & Lounge: Opaque orange windows mask the mellow scene inside this soulful Chelsea spot stuck in the third teer of club hell--also known as West Chelsea. The subdued yet welcoming (and gorgeous) staff, amber lighting, and semicircular leather booths help create an atmosphere that will make patrons loyal and plenty intoxicated. The layout, with no separate VIP area, seems designed to make you feel you've discovered an insider secret straight out of old-world Harlem. Despite the background of Motown and hip hop, Tillman’s encourages more intimate conversations than the surrounding club-central grind-fests.
