This bar is officially known as “WCOU Radio” but is most often referred to as the Tile Bar because…well, because the bar has tiles on the floor. Located on a relatively quiet corner in the East Village, WCOU is a simple, friendly place to have a drink or two with a few pals. Groups of three to five crowd around small tables to enjoy each other’s company and listen to the eclectic music coming from a large, retro jukebox at the back of the bar. The most attractive reason to visit, though, are stiff drinks that cost just $5 each and don’t require intense jostling for position and vision-blurring efforts to make eye contact with the barkeep. WCOU, Tile…call it whatever the hell you want, but do call.
