The Stone: The Stone is dry as a rock. Here, it’s about the music, man. Occupying the corner space of a strange block, this space looks and feels like your high school’s band room. Folding metal chairs face a modest stage, upon which jazzy musicians, most of whom might grudgingly call themselves “experimental,” play to a crowd that’s obviously there to see them. Tickets generally go for $10 and shows last 8pm-10pm Tues–Sun. Ideally, this curator-operated artist’s collective will be financed by ticket sales, serving as a showroom and rehearsal space for up-and-coming acts. Realistically, without serving booze, this noble experiment has its work cut out for it. |
