The Sixth Ward
The Sixth Ward may be trying a little too hard hence the reason its coming up limp. With its plasma screen TVs playing sports with a posh lounge area, it seems a bit out of place in a downtown location where people would be happier drinking $1 PBRs and sitting on beat up couches. Red lights offer a rosy glow that should mix well with a cocktail or two, but the swanky booths are yet to be inhabited by groping co-workers, though not necessarily the bar's fault, it could just be filled with ugly co-workers. (Maybe it’s become a DMV hangout?) Regardless, most people huddle around the bar, leaving the area lopsided and the lounge part more of an informal coat check. If the lines are too long at neighboring favorites, the pool room here is oft abandoned and games are only $1.50. There’s potential for the spacious backyard garden, but for now, awkward wall art and café tables make the ambiance more burgers at TGIFriday’s than cocktails on LES Saturdays.

The Sixth Ward

I don't know who wrote the other review for this place, but I had a really good time last night at the Sixth Ward! The booze was flowing and there was a hot bartender that I am going back to see for sure. I think I am in love. I live in this neighborhood and a frequent visitor to 200 Orchard. They opened the Sixth Ward across the street so that's why I ended up here. It's a good place to get typical Irish bar food, and I think the owners of 200 opened it up just so they could have a place to eat around there cuz they are all Irish! I had the steak, it was good, and for $15, even better! So, as you can tell, I highly recommend this place. I don't usually write reviews, but when I read the review above, I felt the need to speak the truth!
