The Roof Garden @ the Metropolitan Museum of Art: After dealing with all the tourists crammed into the Metropolitan Museum of Art, no one will blame you for needing a drink. Snagging a glass of sangria “up on the roof” is also a fab way to get in your culture quota without giving up precious cocktail time. Surprisingly less packed than one would expect, the Cantor Roof Garden offers a view of Central Park that even Pale Male or Lola would covet (you can spot the Dakota, where John Lennon lived). Take a cue from the starving artists downstairs though—forgo the $8 airport-style sandwiches, and stick with the New York-style hot dog stand across the street, then wash it down with an overpriced plastic cup of wine while you pose near the strange life-sized artwork attached to the floor. |
