The Redhead: When you first approach this East Village haunt, you may think you’re at a bar, not a restaurant. The truth is, while it started out as a bar serving food once a week, it’s since become a popular spot for delicious comfort food at great prices. Of course, popular plus tiny equals wait time for a table. The Redhead solved this problem perfectly with a selection of tasty snacks at the bar like the salty and sweet bacon peanut brittle and German sausage with a homemade soft pretzel. Appetizers include a classic Caesar salad served with a one-eyed susan egg on top and a roasted beet salad with goat cheese, pistachios and grapes. Two popular entrees are the "Low Country Shrimp" with grits and andouille sausage, and the "Deviled Bones": chicken fried pork ribs served over three bean salad. Make sure to save room for the Salted Caramel Hoho - a fancy take on your childhood favorite. Open Tues.-Sat., 5:30pm-1am.
