The Ravel Rooftop Bar & Lounge @ the Ravel Hotel: Why Ravel, why!? You generated big buzz with your spectacular views of Manhattan from alongside the 59th Street Bridge, but so far your self-described “Miami-style” outdoor rooftop club is a bit of a chaotic mess. After braving this isolated area of LIC, we were blown away by the view and layout. What DJ wouldn’t want to spin from that eagle’s nest spot, on the top of the world? We desperately wanted to snack on the cheeseburger eggrolls, but just couldn’t locate a waitress- although we did see a lot of fake boobs in Ed Hardy shirts. The cabanas with couches and bottle service felt a little five years ago, but at least the liquor was flowing for the Kings of Queens willing to splurge. The rest of us had to push our way to the bar and risk going home smelling like Axe Body Spray. So much potential here, but we say wait for a private party to unravel at Ravel. |
