The Pearl Room at The Setai: Recession? What recession? From the second floor of the “world’s most privileged condominium” comes the Pearl Bar, a discreet lounge in the super-swank Setai on Broad St. If you spend more on a pair of kicks than most people do on rent, this exclusive hideaway makes a good spot to discuss a hostile takeover while throwing back some 20-year vino. The most notable feature: a long row of glass wine racks, 13 shelves high, which help to frame a 10-seat wine tasting table. The second-most notable: the super steep prices. Our expense accounts don’t permit us to chug straight out of that $15,000 magnum of Château Pétrus, so we’ll have to assume you get what you pay for. For those of you who don’t happen to own an island nation, the knowledgeable (and attractive) staff can help you through the 31 pages of less rare selections, which only go as high as $500. Ambience is subtle, and talk about low—this place is darker than last year’s earnings report. Still, if you lived here, you’d be drinking by now. |
