The spirit of New York-style cabaret is still alive and swingin’ at this legendary Midtown haunt. The performers holding sway here include a veritable who’s who of popular singers, and the old-fashioned lyrics and arrangements you’ll hear will take you back 80 years. Though more hip-replacement than hip, and not likely to host any Brad and Angelina make-out sessions anytime soon, the Oak Room is a refreshing blast from the past that reminds us all that New York City was cool well before PM and Marquee came along. You won’t have to shell out for bottle service, but you will have to fork over $55-$60 for cover, plus food and drink minimums. A sugar daddy will come in handy.
