The Model Lounge: If you were recently grabbing lunch at Delicatessen, you may have noticed some familiar sets of cheekbones sauntering by. What's up with that? The answer lies just behind a check-in desk that you probably won’t be getting past: It’s the aptly-named Model Lounge, a soothing, sky-lit courtyard, off-limits to mere mortals. After all, it’s not easy being beautiful, and it seems this underserved segment of the population has long needed a private networking hub to call their own. So, the lounge is a magical land where professional models (no friends, no hangers-on) are lavished with meals, diet drinks, tranquil environs and yet more promotional schwag they don’t need. Really, the only thing missing is a unicorn petting zoo. The good news: If you’re patient, you too can say—technically—you’ve gotten inside. Just wait till 4:30 a.m. or so, when the beautiful-on-the-inside finally get a chance to plant their above-size 0 derrieres on the snazzy lime green couches. But if the models aren’t there, does it really count? |
