The Living Room (@ W Hotel – Times Square): The recently renovated Living Room hasn’t changed much, but there’s definitely some added color to the sterile white environment. Within the urbane den of sophistication, the far nooks have burgundy tones while white plank banquettes line the wall opposite the bar, separated by light-toned leather chairs. Color projections shadow the entryway columns, creating a bright light show that adds to the modern feel. Even with splashes of color, the white-on-white color scheme is more sterile-hospital than sophisticated chic. On the bright side, the model-like staffers aren’t just pretty faces; they’re friendly and mix a mean cosmo too. Despite being on the seventh floor of the W Hotel, a Midtown crowd crams the banquettes while tourists are few and far between amidst a sea of suits. We’re not sure if that’s a good thing or not. |
