The Living Room
The Living Room is a cool alternative and fantastic counterpart to its noisier neighbor, Pianos. Whereas Pianos rocks, The Living Room sways. Most of the acts that grace the small stage in the back of this long room are of the acoustic singer/songwriter variety. This place gained its notoriety from its original locale that was just around the corner and half the size of this bi-level, shabby-chic cash-only joint. The bar in front is neighborly, even showing baseball games on TVs over the bar. Through a velvet curtain is a back room of wooden chairs and little tables, not to mention nightly live bands. Rather than a cover, this space generally imposes a one-drink minimum per set and the standard passed bucket o’ tips. The minimalist lounge upstairs offers a piano and privacy, and little else.

Great spot

A great place to relax and hear some top quality music. Not too overbearing, there is only a one drink minimum to see the musicians. The atmosphere alone is worth the drink. A unique spot with a great feel.

Awesome Time!

I always enjoy myself at this place! Between the music, the drinks and the atmosphere this place gets it all right. A great place to go to if you’re looking to have a great night on the LES.

One of the best bar/lounge/performance venues I've been to. No cover, friendly staff and a fun bar. Overall great experience and atmosphere. The live music is great, highly recommend!

awesome!

If you haven't been to the Living Room before, definitely check it out. They get some really great artists to play and the staff is very nice. There is rarely a cover charge and they have a good selection of drinks. What else can I say, see and hear it for yourself!

Excellent Music Venue

The name Living Room is a beautiful, cozy bar and venue that is constantly showcasing new artists, The bands, and solo musicians, are all great, and despite the occaisonal ticketed show, there is no cover charge. There is a one drink minimum, but the prices are affordable so this is not an issue, and at a place like this you're going to want a drink to complete the experience.

Living Room is the shit

Fantastic place! I've been here several times and have had uniformly great experiences each time. The music, from mostly undiscovered local talent, is always good and the drink prices are what you'd expect from a LES spot. If you are into mostly acoustic, singer-songwriter sort of fare, you should definitely check this place out. Also, almost all of the shows are free (I've only paid one cover so far), but they ask you to buy at least a drink while you're there, which you were gonna do anyway! Definitely hit this spot up.

great music

One more reason to come to the Lower East Side. This place has new bands/artists coming through every night of the week, some of which make it big (think Norah Jones). Bottom line, there's always good music playing. Check it out.

Awesome shows!

The Living Room is one of my favorite music venues in New York; the shows are great, and usually don't have cover charges! So this place won't put a dent in your wallet; the drinks are also reasonable. The atmosphere is great, relaxed and fun, so it's a perfect place for listening to music and for socializing. Definitely a must-see place!
