The Lion’s Head Tavern
This Columbia area sports bar is small but houses enough TVs for fans of all stripes to enjoy several major events at once. An elevated table area in the rear allows for “grandstand” game-viewing and Jets fans in particular have made a home here. When there’s no big game to be had, it’s generally a college crowd, and oh, what a crowd. Wednesday through Saturday nights can get pretty packed, but hey, that’s the idea, right? When you’re not in the mood for hitting on sweaty co-eds, the Lion’s Head’s friendly (if occasionally spacey) staff serves up cheap PBRs, tasty chicken fingers, and quarters for the vital Ms. Pac-Man table machine. Bottom line: low-key neighborhood bar by day, Columbia scene by night.
