The Levee:
Your older New York friends will always remember the Levee as that place that used to be Kokies, the ’90s dive that dealt in, well, something not so legal. (You figure it out.) Now it’s a friendly pub populated by neighborhood friends who bring in their dogs and indulge in free darts, mixing with a post-collegiate working crowd who hit up the pool table or lounge on the couches playing board games. Beer and liquor are the drinks of choice here, namely PBR in the can, which comes wrapped in a beer koozie. (Gimmicky, yes, but sort of cool nonetheless.) The jukebox is typical—Ryan Adams, Pixies, Metallica—and while there’s no snobbery or hipster attitude, this isn’t the kind of place where you should order an apple martini. The only cheeseballs the bartenders tolerate are the kind that come in a can, which are served up for free at the bar.
This place has some mad cheap beer, and there are even a few more choices on top of your typical default PBR. They also have very cheap bar food such as hotdogs, PBJ, bologne, etc... Recommend.
