The John Dory: It may be known for steak, but the Meatpacking District is now home to one of the most buzzed-about seafood restaurants in the city. A fantasy-football lineup of Ken Friedman and April Bloomfield (of ridiculously popular Spotted Pig), Joe Bastianich (Del Posto), and David Lynch (Babbo) have taken over the old Frank's Restaurant space and opened an upscale British seafood restaurant. Unlike so many others who’ve opened (and closed) gimmicky fish-and-chips spots, chef Bloomfield was inspired by classic British cuisine. The 20-seat bar features a a wide array of beers and fantastic wine list – and it's a bar so good that you may find yourself hoping for additional wait time on the tables. The talented ktichen staff treats its guests to some truly unique takes on seafood. Granted, prices are a bit steep here, but it’s worth it, as you’ll enjoy good drinks, great food, and be treated wonderfully by a very gracious staff. Open Mon.-Sat. 5:30pm-2am and Sat.-Sun. 12-3pm.
