The Half King Bar: This bar just can’t live down the fame that “the Perfect Storm” author, Sebastian Junger, is an owner. Apparently, his gifts go beyond the written page, because everything seems to be in perfect working order at this quaint and inviting Irish pub. The place is set up to appeal to those with artistic aspirations—there is a reading series on Monday nights, and an ongoing photojournalism exhibit in the dining room, with featured artists rotating on a monthly basis. There’s also a a nice back garden and a good beer selection: about 14 on draught and 15 bottled, and a hefty menu of far-above-average pub fare. Still, it’s hard to image Rimbaud and Verlaine making the big connection over the noise level in this place, which seems to just about always be crowded. |
