The Globe:
Occupying the space where the "Grand Saloon" used to be (one of the biggest wastes of space in the City,) The Globe has already made itself more appealing than its predecessor ever was. There’s exposed brick throughout and a fireplace that’ll eventually be up and working. Unfortunately, there still aren’t many beers on tap, nor much of a menu to choose from. Both are expected to be expanded upon ten-fold over the next few months. So why come here? The ambience is great and the crowd always seems to be a warm and jovial bunch. And if anything, it’s worth giving this place a chance for the lone reason of getting to enjoy it before it becomes yet another a-typical Irish pub. Enjoy while the charm is still a characteristic of the place and not something that’s nailed to the wall in the form of some random Irish décor.
I miss the Grand Saloon and I was sadder than most to see it go. But since it's downfall was inevitable, I'm glad that the new owners at least kept up the same level of class and committment the GS once had. The Globe is a good spot, with lots of room and resonably priced drinks. The bartenders are friendly and heavy handed, which is good for anyone out there looking to get liquored up after a hard work day.
