The Gin Mill
The family that drinks together, stays together. The Gin Mill is the Upper West Side sister of Jake’s Dilemma, and the cousin of Village beer-pong halls Down the Hatch and Off the Wagon. But The Gin Mill distinguishes itself from all three by attempting to adopt an Irish pub feel. One doesn’t have to look far to see where they gave up on style and just went with what works: cheap beer and bar games. Past the long bar and rowdy sports fans who gaze upwards at numerous TVs is a sit-down restaurant area, where typical bar fare meets college-survival entrées like Sloppy Joes and cheese steaks. It’s loud, it’s unspectacular, but it’s got enough going for it to eat up a night before you can look at your watch.
