The General Greene: A farm-fresh twist on the American diner from talented pastry chef Nicholas Morgenstern (Gramercy Tavern), The General Greene serves comfort dishes ideal for sharing. Pony up to a vintage tractor seat at the butcher block bar and nibble on hot and cold plates. Consulting chef Ryan Skeen (Resto) has added his input to the simple dishes, such as collard greens with pig's feet, shallots, and cashews ($6), crispy chicken with fennel, sweet corn, and tarragon ($10), and roasted pork ribs with sweet and sour tomato chutney ($10). Sip specialty cocktails like the General's Gin Cup (gin, cucumber puree, fresh mint, pineapple, and ginger beer), as well as regional wine and beer. Coming soon, a street-side ice cream cart will churn out Morgenstern's homemade treats, with flavors like honey almond and salted caramel. |
