It’s a summer evening in the Slope, and if you’re not lingering around for an outdoor table at The Gate, you’re missing out. While the winter days draw the skeevy, somewhat older crowd of regulars for darts and inaudible conversations, on nights where temps hit 50 degrees plus, the local kids come a knockin’. Groups fresh from Frisbee games at Prospect Park chill with pints of any beer you could dream of and order shots all around. There’s always somebody with a cig to bum that’ll become a newfound friend; hey, they might even ask you to join their pick-up softball game next week. The Gate’s casual feel and upbeat crowd set the bar apart—but the nabe staple definitely brings the gang together.
