The Diamond: If you’ve had it with the boozy-breathed bullshit of hipster bars in Billyburg, take a quick stroll over to Greenpoint to discover the neighborhood’s gem, The Diamond. Don’t worry, the cool kids still come here, but they’re the type you’d actually want to have a beer with. Good thing this spot has a lot of ale to offer: the chalkboard menu breaks it down for you in categories of draft, strong, session, and vintage strong (they’re even thoughtful enough to scrawl a “buyer’s beware” notice next to particularly lethal Belgian brews), and the laid-back bartender won’t mind if you take your time picking your poison. Keep your hands occupied with shuffleboard, or just chill on the breezy backyard patio and remember why you started coming to this neighborhood in the first place. |
