The City Grill: This classy uptown spot is probably more famous for its impeccable Sunday brunch than it is for its bar scene. A world of white cotton tablecloths and chilled martini glasses, the City Grill has no room for any barroom antics, drunken karaoke, or getting out-right sloshed. Very rarely does the party here run until the wee hours—or even past midnight—as the Grill is more of a restaurant with a bar than a bar with a restaurant. The wine list at this Upper West Side mainstay has something for every palate, and the martinis and margaritas are superb—if not a little on the expensive side. The clientele, usually young professionals and local families around brunch and dinnertime, maintains a casual decorum chatting with the friendly staff while the restaurant still moves like a well-oiled machine. |
