Some hotel bars are designed with New Yorkers in mind. Others are designed so that fanny-pack-wearing tourists will have someplace to go to click through their digital camera after a day spent on a double-decker red bus. This is such a bar. Overlooking the Great White Way, Broadway Bar’s view is pretty much the only thing this place has going for it. Like most of the Novotel Hotel, The Broadway Bar is like a trumped-up version of an airport lounge. The royal blue barstools match the carpet and cruise ship-style table and chairs, while giant white beams jut out “Star Trek”-style. No one ever looks good in an airport and things won’t be any different here. Cosmos are the drink of choice among the out-of-town crowd. Go figure.
