The Ace Hotel Bar: The lobby lounge at Ace Hotel is finally open, and that means it's time to spin the Hotel Bar Theme Wheel! Looks like it’s gonna be ... "library!" Low-lit, hushed and stately, this place really feels like a study room at the NYPL on 5th Ave. Decor extends to a few plush, Freud-worthy therapist couches, stuffed badgers in a glass cage and even some dusty reference texts. In other words, this is one stylish place to check your e-mail. The beers—all four of them—are the only drinks you won't pay double digits for, while signature recipes like the Flatiron just might involve the previous contents of those alchemy bottles on the shelf. Hip tip: Step outside, locate the pink Spin The Bottle flag on the opposite side of 29th street, then look up to the third floor window. There, you’ll be regaled with a huge painting of "Pop-Up Video" creator Tad Low.
