The Boom Boom Room @ The Standard Hotel: 

Credit where credit is due—this room is definitely booming. In fact, the Standard Hotel's long-awaited rooftop lounge is already being hailed by some pro hype-masters as the biggest thing since Studio 54. Time will tell on that one, but here's what The Boom Boom Room definitely is: a place that brings New Yorkers all the Cali décor and celeb-spotting we can't bring ourselves to admit we crave. Who doesn't want to boogie-woogie to Peter, Bjorn and John on the golden-sparkling carpet while "casually" bumping into paparazzi’s favorite targets (Mary-Kate, Chloe Sevigny, etc.)? Yeah, the cocktails are obviously overpriced, but as they're poured from behind a beautiful dark wooden bar and brought to your intimate table, you may ask yourself: How much is too much to pay for a Jude Law sighting? If you are less into the L.A. aesthetic—and more into, oh, vertigo—step outside onto the glass-floored terrace, and look 18 stories down to the ground. Now get back in the action before Madonna leaves.
