The Black Horse Pub: The "goal" of the Black Horse Pub is pretty simple: nurse a pint and catch your favorite football team in action. Football, in this case, meaning the English stuff. On many a given Sunday, soccer fans come early to this fun South Slope spot for an English Breakfast ($12) and a seat for the contest, finishing up just before the NFL schedule kicks off. Sports bar or not, though, it’s still the Slope, so prepare yourself for the usual dose of brick walls, wooden bars, and chalkboard signage. The beer, however, has a bit more flavor, with a tap list covering places like Denmark (Carlsberg), Belgium (Hoegaarden) and the Czech Republic (Krušovice). It’s like a World Cup of brews, all going for six bucks. So if a night (or day) of soccer sounds like a “riot”, feel free give this Horse a ride. |
