Ten Degrees: Here’s proof that the East Village is selling out to the yupster crowd and leaving hipsters in a lurch. Morrissey Park was once a thriving dance club. Now, it’s given up grunge for argyle, and settled into a tasteful Spanish wine bar. To sweeten the deal for that preppy couple looking for aesthetically pleasing romance, tapas (referred to as “bistro appetizers”) are combined with sophisticated cheese plates and elegant Spanish wine. The décor is one of dark wood and big leather couches. If you close your eyes, you can almost feel the Turtle Bay/Sutton Place banking crowd migrating over to tie a few on and pick up chicks. But the DJ ain’t bad, and there certainly isn’t anything wrong with guzzling lots of wine. |
