Tamari:
Sake bars have expanded from their core nucleus of the Lower East Side all the way to Park Slope. Among the solid smattering of Japanese restaurants, Tamari uses alcohol to make itself stand out. Nothing wrong with that! Sunday through Thursday is especially busy, when the restaurant’s 6pm-8pm “Happy Sake Hour” rounds up the 2-for-1 lovers. Stock up on the shareable selection of Asian “tapas,” which ranges from noodles to dumpling dishes. Two sake wines can easily turn to eight when happy hours are involved, and while the wait staff is quite friendly and accommodating, they probably don’t want to carry you out of the bar.
