Sunita: Want to go to a hole in the wall…literally? Thanks to the big one (hole, that is) at Sunita, there’s actually some elbow room in what would otherwise be an incredibly diminutive bar on Norfolk Street. Framed in flamingo pink and pretty as a picture, the aforementioned hole comfortably unites a small sidewalk patio with the tasteful brick-and-red-sofa setting inside. Plus, one good look at the place makes it clear that this is not your dudes-and-beer kind of joint. Instead, martinis are the specialty and, according to owner Sunita Lofters, the Jalapeno Passion ($10) is the best—and best-selling—drink. Order one and you’ll know you’re getting it made right—after all, she’s the bar’s sole employee (and you thought your day job was time-consuming). Speaking of which, Sunita (both the bar and the owner) is refreshingly free of L.E.S. pretention, and well worth a visit for an after-work drink. Kind of makes you wonder where Lofters gets hers, though. |
