Sugarland:
Williamsburg has a new sweet escape for its gay and lesbian populous. But Manhattanites aren’t rushing onto the L just yet—this club/bar hasn’t quite found its niche or a consistent crowd. The cozy space provides some nooks and crannies for a little privacy while those around you dance, but its cache is definitely closer to “dive” than “club.” Sugarland offers a cheap alternative for a night out with $3 Miller Hi Life every day and two-for-one domestic beer and well drinks from 4 to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, and there’s never a cover. Be ready to scan the scene over and over again while you wait for your vodka Red Bull (the bartenders will catch up—eventually). We suggest you bring your own crew if you want to get the party started here.
