SugarCane: Though chic by reputation, deep down SushiSamba offshoot SugarCane is a friendly neighborhood bar. Like its big sis, the hip and beautiful people frequent SugarCane, but regulars dot the bar to sip sake and chat with the bartenders too. A sampling of Samba’s menu is available at the bar or at the low horseshoe-shaped booth seating that averts from Sugar’s low ceilings, which also avoid oppressing with metal cutout designs and red hues emitting from above. Cocktail “trees” hanging over the bar, plus lotus flowers, Buddhas, and candles set into the wall add charm up front. Entertainment enters via the bar wall’s inset TV screens, which display anything from geishas to extreme sports. |
