Su Casa
You know the hidden-bar fad is out of control when one opens up above a Mexican chain restaurant (although, we must admit, we wouldn't normally think to get our drink on at Qdoba either). Nonetheless, anyone sober enough to look up into Su Casa's two huge second-floor picture windows is bound to be curious. The cluttered walls on the walk up the stairs may make you feel like you’re in a Mexican T.G.I. Friday’s but don’t worry, the cheesiness ("queso"-ness?) ends at the top. Leather benches line the bar’s long brick walls, bathed in a cooling light from the small candles set in the brick (complete with real wax drippings) in a back section overtly oozes "sexy, intimate lounge." Pretty surprising for a place that loops classic Mexican wrestling matches on the bar TV, but, if you're up front, get a seat by the huge windows, grab a fresh marg and it's almost like a luxury skybox for the West Village. Plus, how can you not love a bar that offers a cocktail (“El Diablo” – tequila, habanero peppers and Tabasco) that requires you to sign a waiver?

Ok. Saturday night for my girl's birthday we decided all to meet up here at this place. We arrive about 10:30 to find 5 couples waiting outside. I mentioned to the "list guy" that is was my girlfriends birthday and we will be having about 13 couples meeting us here. I then slipped the guy $50 bucks. he took her name down and said not a problem. I told him I would have one guy coming alone, he lady was coming with another couple and reminded him of the tip i just gave him. Well about an hour later I got a phone call from the single guy, they told him there were too many "single guys" here for that party and wouldnt let him in. I found the list man, and explained to him. He told me i had too many guys. When I personally escorted him over to our area where were were standing and showed him the 12 couples (12 guys, 13 girls) together. he then told me the problem was too many guys had their shirts untucked. I asked him where, and he pointed to some young college kids not even in my party.

So he finally let me friend up.

Another member of my party went to the downstairs bathroom (apparently the cool place is also in business with the dirty epenada place below it) where the cooks who were drunk, said he looked like mini me (since he is short and bald) and made fun of him.

At that point we left at 1:30 am and i took my close to 30 people to another lounge in the village. Basically took 80% of their business at that moment. Mind you, we are all early 30's and buying drink after overpriced drink at the bar.

Stay far far far away. Mark my words.

Great drinks and a cool spot but terribly rude bartenders. The cocktail waitress was sweet. The bartenders were dreadful. I wasn't entirely impressed. and, one bathroom for everyone. Needs some work.

let's be real folks, this is exactly what the west village has been craving! There isn't a place like this anywhere close, and i'm not talking about Qdoba. I came in with burritos on my mind and left with tequila on my tongue.
I made my way up through the stairs...I couldn't tell if I was headed into the vip at taco town or a local sweatshop, but to my surprise it opened into a cozy, sultry space complete with a mixologist's bar, and sensual lounge beckoning for one to indulge in all the delights that it has to offer. the glistening bottles and delectable nachos on the tables beckoned me closer until my senses were overloaded with total and complete satisfaction. the lounge area was intimate, sensual and it definitely didn't lack the beans to complete my burrito, let's just say there was plenty of guac to dip my chip in.
I left completely satisfied, accept for one thing...the hunger to return.
One stop here and you'll be wishing that this was really "su casa"

I liked this place a whole lot. A mexican cocktail lounge is not what I was expecting when walking into 404 6th ave. I love good drinks like any New York girl. This place had awesome cocktails made by a great bartender who was funny and friendly when explaining his drinks. The waitress was very cool as well, she sat with us and talked about what Su Casa was going to be when it was fully open. Im sure I'll be back, they dont have the Cocktail Chops of Death and Co, but they are still better than most places that are popular. I say go check it out.

I went to Su Casa last night for its opening, its MUCH better than before. Small but very nice, hip sexy feel. Good Music and not too crowded. I'm definitely going back!

In my opinion Su Casa is quite small and not all that. I (and a lot of other people am sure) have seen and been to better lounges around the city.
