Stanton Public
Unless you're a beer snob, sometimes just deciphering what beer to go with from a list of over 50 brews from around the world can produce a headache long before you expected to have one. The Lower East Side's Stanton Public fixes that problem. Well, at least getting rid of the first headache. With over 17 rotating drafts and over 60 bottled beers, the best move at this sleek, comforting rock bar is the five-beer tasting sampler. Yuppies flood this neighborhood spot for its ginormous beer collection (including one cask-brewed), and, um, the $9 Hungry Man Microwave Meals. Yep, you read that correctly. Hey, with dartboards and a sheltered patio, it sure beats eating one in front of your TV.

amazing service and music

This is the best music/beer bar in the LES! the bartenders and waitresses are good looking and sweet The music is far off from top 40 and surprisingly, I am always wanting to know what is next. The beer selections seem neverending. All-in-all, amazing staff and this has become my resident bar just in a few weeks. Can't wait for the summer when I can sit out back with my friends and drink myself silly even before the sun goes down.

What a disappointment!

I had my birthday here this past weekend. The doorman was a complete jerk. He did not want to allow myself and my friends to enter. We had a more than generous girl to guy ratio, my friends were dressed appropriately and everyone was courteous. We telling him that I had 40+ people on their way to the bar for my 24th birthday, he did not care. When asked if we could go in, we were told that it was too crowded, however we could easily see that it was clearly a lie. So instead, we waited patiently, outside in the rain. As 5-10 people left, we asked to enter again, only to be denied. Eventually, we were permitted to enter, however a large amount of my friends were denied entry all-together at some point in the night. Free drinks for my birthday if I brought 10+ people? I don't think so. I was told that I somehow missed that opportunity and it was too late. I will NEVER return to this bar. My experience on Saturday was the epitome of how you should not treat customers, especially on their birthday and when they have a lot of friends on their way. What a disappointment!

A True Fan

Great indoor space. Great outdoor space. They have a fantastic selection of beers & liquors and the crowd is friendly and energized. Plus, for the L.E.S., I've always liked that the decor is a little more upscale in the main room- more polished. I'm not sure what the reviwer above meant when they said "flooded with yuppies" because some of the bartenders can be a little cocky to the upper east side yuppies that sometimes trickle in to the whole neighborhood on weekends, but it's made pretty clear to them that they can take off their ties & relax or head uptown if they want to hang with the LES..those guys are far & few between here except for the weekends when they "flood" the neighborhood. Definitely worth spending your whole weekend here because you will always meet some really cool people, great minds think alike!
