Stand Up NY:
Stand-Up NY might be the only spot in NYC where a Mexican guy can riff on race relations without inviting a few fists to introduce themselves to his face. Anything goes at this Upper West Side laugh emporium where up-and-coming comedians (many of whom have appeared on Comedy Central) try to out-funny each other in front of a decent-sized crowd. Big names like Dave Chappelle and Jerry Seinfeld have been known to drop in too. On Saturday nights you can see three comics for the price of one. And at $16 a show and a two-drink minimum, you’ll want to get your laugh’s worth; otherwise, buy a wig and some costume jewelry and try to get in for free. Just tell the guy at the door, “I’m Rick James, bitch!”
